What is Bayer's USB Cable? Why do I need one?
The USB Cable from Bayer is a custom made cable that allows users to download data from their meters to a computer. USB stands for “Universal Serial Bus.” A single USB port can be used for multiple devices. This gives users great flexibility. It also supports plug-and-play installations.
Some newer computers are produced with only USB ports. Bayer will offer this new product to allow users to take advantage of our diabetes management software, WinGLUCOFACTS.
Its blue color makes it easy to identify among all USB cables offered by our competitors.
Bayer will continue to have two types of cables, the existing DB9 connector (9-pin serial) and the new one, a USB (Universal Serial Bus) cable. The new cable will replace the need for the USB to Serial Cable adapter. Each cable works with a different connector; check your computer to see which best fits your needs.

What is the difference between Bayer's Serial Cable and Bayer's USB Cable?
What is the difference between Bayer’s Serial Cable and a Bayer’s USB Cable? Both cables allow users to download data from their Bayer meter to their computer. Each cable works with a different connector; check your computer to see which best fits your needs.
Some newer computers are produced with only USB ports. Bayer offers this new product to allow users to take advantage of our diabetes management software, WinGLUCOFACTS.

No. All Bayer cables are proprietary and built to meet the technical needs of our meters. Other cables may not work with Bayer meters.

No, Bayer cables are meant specifically for Bayer's meters. They may not work with other devices, and they may not transfer data other than our meter data.
Can I connect Bayer's USB Cable into a USB hub?
Yes.

Connect the cable and follow the instructions on your screen and in the Connection Guide (available online or included with the USB cable). The computer will determine if you have the necessary driver or whether you will need a driver. All drivers are in the CD provided with the cable. What is the software driver? Where can I get one? Can I download it from the Web?
A driver is software that allows the cable to be recognized by your operating system to be able to function properly. Drivers are only required for the USB Cable. The computer will determine if you have the necessary driver or whether you will need a driver. The CD provided with the cable comes with Microsoft Windows 2000, XP and Vista drivers. You can also download the drivers online on http://www.WinGLUCOFACTS.com/ or http://www.WinGLUCOFACTSpro.com/.
If I connect the USB Cable to another port on the same computer, do I need to install the driver again?
No. Once the driver is installed, it will automatically detect the cable.
How do I uninstall the USB Cable?
Generally, this should not be necessary. Simply unplug the cable, and the software will stop running.
If required, please follow these instructions on uninstalling the driver(s) from your computer.
